Self-Driving Tesla Cars At 50 MPH!
Hands free at 50 mph all Tesla vehicles have the hardware for full self-driving at a level substantially greater than that of a normal human driver. This is Tesla's Autopilot systems and it can take over driving duties on highways in the right circumstances and keep lane position, adjust speed/braking, and steer the car within the lane without taking actual turns.
This is done by using eight cameras to provide 360-degrees of visibility around the car at up to 250 meters of range, as well as 12 ultrasonic sensors.
This new 360-Degree Camera technology is being used by other Car manufactures but not to the degree that Tesla is employing. Other Cars With 360-Degree Cameras are:
- BMW 7-Series
- Hyundai Equus Ultimate
- Land Rover Range Rover Supercharged
- Kia Optima SX Limited
- Nissan Versa Note
- Lexus LX
- Volvo XC90
